    Predit: A temporal predictive framework for scheduling systems

    Scheduling can be formalized as a Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP). Within this framework activities belonging to a plan are interconnected via temporal constraints that account for slack among them. Temporal representation must include methods for constraints propagation and provide a logic for symbolic and numerical deductions. In this paper we describe a support framework for opportunistic reasoning in constraint directed scheduling. In order to focus the attention of an incremental scheduler on critical problem aspects, some discrete temporal indexes are presented. They are also useful for the prediction of the degree of resources contention. The predictive method expressed through our indexes can be seen as a Knowledge Source for an opportunistic scheduler with a blackboard architecture

    Time-resolved Faraday rotation is used to measure the coherent electron spin precession in a GaAs/InGaAs quantum well below an interdigitated magnetized Fe grating. We show that the electron spin precession frequency can be modified by applying a gate voltage of opposite polarity to neighboring bars. A tunability of the precession frequency of 0.5 GHz/V has been observed. Modulating the gate potential with a gigahertz frequency allows the electron spin precession to be controlled on a nanosecond timescale

    Two-dimensional imaging of the spin-orbit effective magnetic field

    We report on spatially resolved measurements of the spin-orbit effective magnetic field in a GaAs/InGaAs quantum-well. Biased gate electrodes lead to an electric-field distribution in which the quantum-well electrons move according to the local orientation and magnitude of the electric field. This motion induces Rashba and Dresselhaus effective magnetic fields. The projection of the sum of these fields onto an external magnetic field is monitored locally by measuring the electron spin-precession frequency using time-resolved Faraday rotation. A comparison with simulations shows good agreement with the experimental data.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

But there’s  a  problem,  which  is  queue  process  is  still  conventional  and  not  in  order.  This application can solve that problem. It has features, such as arranging queue number, queue registration,  calling  customer  with  certain  queue  number  and  showing  which  table  who calling  the  customer,  showing  customer  data,  showing  customer  service  official  data, showing  customer  service  report,  showing  and  changing  customer  service  official  data, showing  and  changing  supervisor  data,  showing  and  changing  administrator  data.  The result  can help queue arranging process. This application  could used  for other  company which  have  multi  channel  single  phase  queue,  having  more  than  one  service,  having unlimited queue  total, and used  for  customer  service department. For  example are banks and health clinics. Some adaptations may be needed by other companies

    Optimized stray-field-induced enhancement of the electron spin precession by buried Fe gates

    The magnetic stray field from Fe gates is used to modify the spin precession frequency of InGaAs/GaAs quantum-well electrons in an external magnetic field. By using an etching process to position the gates directly in the plane of the quantum well, the stray-field influence on the spin precession increases significantly compared with results from previous studies with top-gated structures. In line with numerical simulations, the stray-field-induced precession frequency increases as the gap between the ferromagnetic gates is reduced. The inhomogeneous stray field leads to additional spin dephasing.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

    Social norms and e-motions in problematic social media use among adolescents

    © 2020 The Authors Introduction: Being constantly connected on social media is a “way of being” among adolescents. However, social media use can become “problematic” for some users and only a few studies have explored the concurrent contribution of social context and emotion regulation to problematic social media use. The current study aimed to test: (i) the influence of friends (i.e., their social media use and group norms about social media use); and (ii) the effects of difficulties in emotion regulation and so-called “e-motions” on adolescents’ problematic social media use. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Italian secondary schools. An online questionnaire was administered to 761 adolescents (44.5% females; Mage = 15.49 years; SDage = 1.03). Results: Path analysis showed that social norms were directly associated with problematic social media use and friends’ social media use was associated with the frequency of social media use, which, in turn, was associated with problematic use. Difficulties in emotion regulation were directly and indirectly linked to problematic social media use via frequency of use and facilitating use of e-motions. Conclusions: These findings provide support for the importance of both peer influence and emotion regulation in this context. Social norms and emotion regulation should be considered in prevention programs addressing problematic social media use in adolescents

    Semanticizing syntactic patterns in NLP processing using SPARQL-DL queries

    Some recent works on natural language semantic parsing make use of syntax and semantics together using different combination models. In our work we attempt to use SPARQL-DL as an interface between syntactic information given by the Stanford statistical parser (namely part-of-speech tagged text and typed dependency representation) and semantic information obtained from the FrameNet database. We use SPARQL-DL queries to check the presence of syntactic patterns within a sentence and identify their role as frame elements. The choice of SPARQL-DL is due to its usage as a common reference language for semantic applications and its high expressivity, which let rules to be generalized exploiting the inference capabilities of the underlying reasoner
